Should I Take Medicines For Pertussis?

I am 81 years old and have just been around my son and grandson who are on their 3rd day of antibiotics due to another family member having been diagnosed with pertussis (child, 8 yrs. old). All of their family members are on the 5-day antibiotic regimen and I am wondering if I should also ask my doctor about taking antibiotics. I have a pacemaker and ongoing heart problems. Thank you.
