Should I Tell My Doctor About Constipation From Tramadol, And Is It Safe To Use Miralax Daily?
I m in tramadole and I have constipation, my question is I m afraid to tell her for fear she ll stop my medication. I need this pain pill for my pain but this constipation is giving me more pain in my lower back. Should I tell her. I don t what Know what to do. I can take miralax but udk is that s safe to use every day
Tramadol and other opioids do cause the digestive system to slow down, and this causes stool to become dry and hard. Take stool softeners (like Docusate) or you can also take Osmotic laxatives (like Miralax / polyethylene glycol, lactulose) to help prevent constipation. Avoid sedentary life, stay active, do exercises and do walking in the morning as well as in the evening for better bowel movement.
Include fiber in your regular diet and keep yourself well hydrated. Avoid taking red meat as it causes constipation. You can reduce the portion. You should keep your treating doctor informed. She may reduce your dose or prescribe any other medication that suits you better.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
