Should A Cystoscopy Be Done For Bladder Diverticulum?

I had UTI with fever and burning sensation while passing urine.Took antibiotics from a general doctor for 10 days.Pain and burning sensation subsided.Started taking urimax ,one daily.Intially urine flow became smooth Then the burning sensation came back, sometimes with good pain. One doctor suggestrd cystoscopy .Another doctor suggested taking antibiotic (SULPA)for 3 weeks and then visit him.He suspected,I think ,Prostatitis.Took the medine for 2 days.No improveme.

Grade 1 BPH for some time.No medicine taken recently. On ultrasound, diverticulam of the bladder was noticed.
Urine analysis shows everything normal except URINE RBC,which is 10 to 15.

Should I go for cystoscopy or continue with medicines?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Looking to the given history I could say that, urine culture sensitivity test is necessary to rule out the possibility of infection although UTI in male is less likely but it has to be ruled out. Cystitis could be the cause, before doing cystoscopy you can complete the course of antibiotic (sensitive drug). If the symptoms remains as it is then you can go for cystoscopy.

I hope this information helps.
