Should A Dog Bite Causing Leg Bruising, Swelling And Pain Be Treated?

Hello. Last night, I got attacked by a boxer dog, and he bit my leg twice. He didn't break skin, it was merely a small scrape. No blood at all. Now this morning I woke up with bruising, some mild swelling, and lots of pain. Is this something to be worried about? I know that dog bites, even if they do not break skin, can cause underlying damage. Should I get this checked out with my regular doctor?

Hello, I am sorry that you were bitten. Usually if a dog bite does not break the ski there is no risk of infection. However, there can be underlying muscle and tendon damage so I do think it would be a good idea to have your doctor check it, especially if you are having a lot of pain. I hope you all healed up soon.
