Should A Medical Investigation Be Done For Tenderness And Contractions In The Abdominal Muscles?

I'm a white male, age 62. Recently experiencing slight tenderness and notable bulge when contracting abdominal muscles. I've had hernia surgery about 6 inches below this area 3 years ago. Any thing here worth investigating, or should I take 2 aspirin and go to bed ?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It might be recurrence of hernia or it can be something called "Diastasis recti" which is a hernia like condition where your abdominal muscles get weaker and abdominal content protrudes out. You can go for an ultrasound scan to confirm the diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query.
