Should Hemoglobin Hplc Levels Be Checked When Diagnosed With Microcytic Hypochromic Anemia And Mild Anisopoikilocytosis?
Hi doctor,Im 19 F,am married.3 mnths ago while a blood reprt showed many dffrnts in my RBC parametres doctor told me that i hve iron deficiency,im taking iron supplimet anemidox,bt recently my blood test shows my hemoglobin 9 and RBC parametrs low and high,Its concluded that microcytic hypochromic anemia and mild ansiopoikilocytosis,my doctor told me to check hemoglobin HPLC,bt i ddnt check it yet,is it important or ive nly iron deficiency?

It is very likely just iron deficinecy and there is no need to be concerned. You need to take iron supplements and if there wont be improvement after 4 weeks then it makes sense to do more extensive work up on possible causes of anemia. Otherwise, you ll just need to have iron rich diet or supplements. The cause of anemia may be prolonged menstrual bleeeding or to low iron intake. Some more serious issue ssuch as internal bleeding or liver disorder are not common in your age. HPLC can be checked later if there wont be improvement on recommended therapy.
