Should I Be Concerned About The High GGT Level? Will Reducing Weight Decrease GGT Level?
My GGT level is 73, Alanine Aminotransferase=16, Alkaline Phosphatase=65, Aspartate Aminotransferase= 30 - I am about 35 lbs overweight and I take supplements. First, should I be concerned bout the high GGT level? Second, will reducing weight decrease my GGT level? What else can I do? Thanks.
High GGT can occur in different conditions such as alcohol use, fatty liver, mass in the liver, hepatitis and non liver conditions (such as side effect of medication, pancreatitis , heart failure, lupus).
If you are overweight, it is possible that it is linked to your weight. Increased weight can cause fatty liver which can raise ggt levels.
If you lose weight then it could cause a decrease in the ggt levels. It can also help prevent any further progression of the fatty liver disease.
I hope this helps
