Should I Be Concerned Of Having Severe Muscle And Joint Pain?

I have had a thyroidectomy. They had to scrape my parathyroids. And lost one. I have had issues keeping mt CA levels up. Multiple infusions. The last 2 months I have been having severe muscle and joint pain. Sounds like rubber bands snapping everwhere. I have graves and fibromyalgia which I work through. I can't take NSAIDS. What could be causing this. So much pain and stiff.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

The most possible cause for your muscle and joint pains could be due to Calcium and Vitamin D deficiency. Estimation of serum calcium and Vitamin D levels will help in assessing their status.

However, musculoskeletal problems perse are seen in Hypothyroid condition. Also, numerous other conditons also produce the same clinical picture. So, a detailed clinical evaluation and appropriate investigations are needed to pin point the cause for your symptoms.

I suggest you to consult an orthopedic surgeon for further evaluation and management.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
