Should I Be Worried About Missing Fetal Heart Beat On An Ultrasound?

Hi! My husband and I have been struggling with infertility for a while. We just recently went through our first ivf. We got the good news April 10th we are pregnant and then had the translational ultra sound at 6 weeks 1 day which was April 28th. The doctor said the baby was measuring approximately at 4.2mm. The only thing is she didn t see a heartbeat and rescheduled our appt for the next week on a Friday. I believe it is for May the 9th. The doctor didn t seem considered at all. My question is should I be considered that I didn t hear a heart beat? Also the doctor didn t say anything about a fetal pole but did say the fetus was side ways and the crown to rump was measuring 4.2mm. Does that mean that there was a fetal pole? Sorry I m just so confused on all of this. This is our first pregnancy. Thank so much for any advise you can give me. Alisha

Hi. I understand you concern.. Dont worry, as your stress will affect the baby too.. usually cardiac activity appears by 6 weeks but sometimes it might be not be clear.. Also there is a concept called delayed conception.. CRL 4.2 indicates the measurement of fetal pole.. So fetal pole is present.. To see for cardiac activity rpt scan after 2 weeks.. Take adequate rest and healthy diet.. everything will go fine. Good Day.
