HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Problems with the pituitary can cause thyroid disease.

There is an area of the brain called the hypothalamus which releases different hormones that then influence the release of hormones from the pituitary.

One of the hormones released from the pituitary is called thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH).
This hormone then stimulates the thyroid gland to release more thyroid hormone.

Low or high levels of the thyroid can be related to the thyroid gland itself or to the pituitary.

Your doctors would have likely determined if your hypothyroidism was related to your thyroid gland or your pituitary gland.

I hope this helps
