Should I Consult A Doctor As My Son Is Having Fever, Cough And Cold?

My 6 month old son has been suffering from cough and cold for the last 6 days. Has had regular rise in temperature everyday only in the evening/night. This has been controlled by metacin or meftal p in case of high temp. Today again he has high temp. What should we do?

Hi Dear

Welcome to the HCM,

Six days old fever requires proper examination and investigation by the peadiatirician.

He may advice for the some blood investigations like CBC, ESR, TYPHI DOT TEST, MALARIA ANTIGEN AND URINE ANALYSIS.
As he is having cough and cold so the possibility of Respiratory tract infection is more.

Acoordingly child may be treated with antipyretics , antihistaminics and decongestants and relevant antbiotics if necessary.
Steam inhalation will also be help ful.
Nebulization with bronchodilators like duolin may also be helpful in relieving the expectoration and cough.

Hope the query is answered.

Thanks
