Should I Go For Another Urine Test As Protein Varies?
My urine RBC/HPf was 6-10 recently and urine protein varies from 0 to 30 on occasions and my GFR stays around 70. I am 81 years old and have been a Type II diabetic since 1994. I am not having any pain in my urinary tract but I do visit the bathroom 3 or 4 times a nite. My primary care Doctor has not called me about the higher result. I think I should ask for another urine check and see what happens. It's been since 17 July 2012 since the last check.
dear sir I understand your concern.since there is some RBC in urine, this RBC will reflect as protein ans your GFR is good as per your age.my suggestion is to check cystatin clearance test which will tell you if there is any diabetic nephropathy.the resone for frequent urination can be your uncontrolled blood sugar or urinary tract infection.kindly repeat your urine analysis and check ultra sound examination for kidney and bladder to rule out any abnormality. In some kind of cancers also there will be RBC in urine with out infection.but most common will be renal stones.......regards Dr Vamsi krishna Consultant Diabetologist
