Should I Insert Dulcolax If My Child Does Not Pass A Bowel Movement?

My daughter is four months old . she does not have bowl movement since 5 days. family doctor has told to insert dulcolax every alternate day if she does not excrete regularly. he has also prescribed sorbiline and bonissan 1/4 spoon twice daily... may i go for it?

Hello. Thank you for your question. This is a very common issue in this age range. If your daughter has gone this many days without a bowel movement, and she appears to be pushing without results, and she seems uncomfortable, then I agree that a suppository should be used. It sometimes takes more than one to help the bowel movement out. So giving every other day is appropriate until she has a bowel movement.
