The first step of treatment is to start you on diabetic diet according to your weight, and repeat the 6 sample blood sugar profile (fasting, 2 hr postbreakfast, prelunch, 2 hr postlunch, predinner, 2 hr postdinner) after 2 weeks of diabetic diet. If the blood sugar profile shows fasting value 90 mg/dl, post meals value 120 mg/dl, pre meals value 100 mg/dl, then you need to be started on insulin according to the sugar values.
