Should I Use Amlodipine Instead Of Metoprolol With Benazepril?

Hi, I'm currently taking benazepril hcl 40 mg and metoprolol 25 mg...I ran out of metoprolol today forgetting to have my meds refilled...I still have a bottle of amlodipine 5mg that I used to take with the benazepril and was wondering should I substitute that for the night or just wait..

Hello
Benazepril is a ACE inhibitors .
Metoprolol is a beta blockers .
Amlopidine is calcium channel blockers .
It has been clearly mentioned that when benazepril is to used with beta blockers or calcium channel blockers , DECREASE the dose .
Amlopidine should be avoided with beta blockers ( i.e. in your case metoprolol ).
Since at present metoprolol is not available so you can use amlodipine with benazepril ( but reduce the dose of later one).
Hope this information will help you.
Good luck.
