Should I Visit A Doctor For The Itchy Swelling With Redness On My Leg?
WWW.WWWW.WW Hopefully I'm just being overly-paranoid but my leg has had this redness and swelling (picture in the imgur url) for three weeks now and it hasn't let up at all. I don't remember hitting it on anything but the whole area hurts when touched like a bruise would, and the center was itchy for a while (although that went away). I've been keeping it iced the past couple days and I've yet to see a doctor but a (nurse) friend of mine said it could be shin splints. Does this seem like something serious that I should get looked at or should I give it some more time?
I would keep a possibility of Cellulitis, considering that the area pains.
In such a case i would advice that you get a prescription for an oral antibiotic (Penicillin group e.g Amoxycillin in combination with clavulanic acid) for a week from your local practitioner.
An OTC pain killer like ibuprofen twice OR thrice daily would help you with the pain associated with it.
take care regards
