Hi, This is my second surgery on my Left knee. The first one they took out a 15 mm which was too big and I couldn t straighten or bend only a certain amount. It was replaced with a 9mm and I have 5 weeks ago. This has been the fastest healing compared to 1 year and 9 months ago, and I could not walk straight until I had my 2nd surgery. My question is can I have a 13 mm on rt knee and a 9mm on the left?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Bone length and breadth varies from right side to left side. It is not generally of the same measurements and there is little of millimeters less or more than the other. Similarly, joint configuration also varies. Hence, prosthetic implants might vary in size between right and left sides. Following surgery, if you are able to walk without much disability comfortably, then you need worry about the measurements of implants. Kindly follow the instructions given by your doctor and do the necessary follow-up as advised.
Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
