Should The ER Be Visited For Chest Pain After An Injury?
Hi, I had a fall down the stairs 4 weeks ago and hurt my chest. I have had chest xray and ultra sound all good results, no broken ribs or ruptures only Hyperinfation of the lungs was diagnosed, any how i am still having pain when i breathe in heavily. Do you think i should go to the doctor for further examination or is this a long process i have to deal with. Thank you.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
I think no need to consult you may have intercostal muscle spasm or pain. use pain killer medication and take rest for few days. If you're a smoker means lungs may be hyper inflated thus is called emphysema. so please stop smoking. If you're symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly. Take care.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
