Should The Fluid In The Elbow Causing Swelling Be Drained?

Hi, as a child I knocked my elbow on doorframes, etc (bad balance). I've noticed that my elbow is swelling (with fluid) - it sounds and looks like bursitis (e.g. from web) but it is not at all painful. Should I have the fluid drained, or is it OK to leave it alone...?? Will it swell further....?? I'm 50 years old..

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement 's  Response
I think you are right in saying that you are having bursitis, do not worried about pain as it may or may not be painful. Still i would suggest you to meet a orthopaedic surgeon and get treated. Treatment will be antibiotic to prevent secondary infection and Brufen to treat swelling.
