Hi, I am 56, and - at least presumably - in menopause. My periods first stopped in Feb. 2010, reappeared in Nov. 2010 (interval 9 months interval); stopped again for 2 yrs 3 months, reappeared in March 2013; an endometrial polyp was removed in Sept. 2013, hystology: glandular polyp ; reappeared in March 2014, a relapse of the polyp was suspected on the first ultrasounds but not confirmed on subsequent ones; after another 2,5 years I began having periods approx. every two months (July, Sept. and Dec. 2016). Since 2103, the endometrium on ultrasounds was thin (1 to 3,3 mm) but before the last period in December it showed 7,65 mm, going back to 2 mm after 3 days of bleeding. Almost all prior ultrasounds (since 2010) showed cysts , fluid-containing spaces or persisiting follicles in the ovaries. The last ultrasound showed near-ideal endometrium (thin and without any signs of polyps), signs of a cyst in the right ovary (reduced in size as compared to prevoius findings) and a residual cavity from a cyst in the left ovary. I consulted two doctors and one of them considers all this as peculariaties of my going into menopause, saying my ovaries are still working and I continue to have periods, and the other says I am at risk of ovarian cancer and should have by uterus and ovaries removed. I am completely at a loss. What do you think about my situation?
