Should The Pain In The Chest Which Started After A Cold Pop Be Concerned?
My 11 year old was just running up the stairs, when he came inside he grabbed a cold pop and had 1 swallow, his chest hurt said he had a sharp pain in his throat, ringing in his ears and momentarily could only see white. his facial color changed, he became slightly sweaty (hot) and he was slightly shaky (his hands). I told him to take a deep breath and when I touched his face he said that snapped him out of it as he was scared when this was happening. this all occurred in about 30 seconds total episode time about 1 min. He says I m just fine now.
Your son mush have developed what is called as vagal attach which is caused by stimulation of the vagus nerve. It must be because of the cold pop and i dont think you should worry! This is not rare and many people can develop a vagal attack following sudden exposure to cold. However if he develops the same condition again, please take him to a doctor. Thanks
