Should Vitamin-D Supplement Be Given To A Child Along With Breast Feed?

hello, I bought similac infant formula for my 3 month old and she was only on breast milk before that. Now I plan to breast feed her and give her one feed pf formula. She was born in Germany and they gave her Fluor-vigantoletten 500 (Vitamin d supplement) 1 tablett everyday. Now I am in USA and not sure if I should continue giving her the vitamin D supplement?

A daily supplementation of Vitamin D at 400 I.U./day is now recommended for all babies from birth until the age of six months. You might want to check how much she is getting from the Similac, and then decide how much you need to give as supplement.

Hi...even though all the formulas are fortified with vitamin D the required daily allowance will be acquired by the kid only if 1 liter of formula is being consumed per day. But if it is less than that you need to give 400 international units of Vitamin D3 per day. if vitamin D is a prescription medicine in USA, then you will need one for it.
