Should We Be Concerned With A Baby Having Swollen Lymph Node On Posterior Left Side Of Neck ?
Hi my name is Stephanie. My 8 month old son has a swollen lymph node on the posterior left side of his neck (not behind his ear, but lower in front of the trapezius muscle). It's been swollen about 4 months, has not increased (or decreased) and is the size of a pencil eraser. It's moveable and doesn't seem to cause him any discomfort. He was strictly breastfed until 6 months, has had 2 colds (typical symptoms only lasting 3-4 days, full recovery within 10 days), and no ear, throat or other infections. Our pediatrician doesn't seem worried, should we be concerned?
Hi Stephanie. It is good that your Pediatrician does not seem to be worried. As a general rule any swelling without an obvious reason is investigated. I would suggest you to go for an Ultrasonography and FNAC ( fine needle aspiration cytology). This will help to get a proper diagnosis and treatment and to alleviate the worries.
