Should We See A Doctor If Patient Has Diarrhea Due To Stress And Anxiety?

My dad died on Saturday night. We are all going through the natural process of grief and for obvious reasons my mum is stressed etc. She is having diarrhea two or three times in the night. Not in the day. I am sure its anxiety related as she is not unwell in the day. But i wonder if there is a point she should see the doctor if it continues? Many thanks

Hi,
I am sorry for your father's sad demise,& your mother's being anxious, nervous, stressed is but natural. but there is possibility of non eating, low blood sugar, which aggravates patient's general condition.
Nervous , stressed, anxious psychology, hastens the bowel movement. You can try anxiolytic ,sufficient liquid replacement, assurance, being with her/supporting her-will relieve her in a couple of days..
But in case it continues, she becomes weak, she has symptoms like pain in abdomen(colic)- she better consult doctor & get examined & treated by hm.
Thanks.
