Shunt Put In Brain. High Fever, Purple Mottling On Arms, Legs. Urine Same, Nasal Swab, Advised Tylenol. Any Idea?
My 15 mo old daughter had a shunt put in her brain at 8 mo..... she has never been ill other than that. Sunday she started getting a low grade fever (99.0-101) and was very irritable. I thought it was due to her teething. However, Tues her fever went up to 104 and she didn't respond to ibuprofen. She also woke up with purple mottling on her arms and legs. I took her to the ER where they did a urine sample and a nasal swab. Both neg. They gave her Tylenol and it reduced her fever. However, she has been extremely irritable, has decreased appetite, she has been more unstable on her feet and her temp is now at 95.5. Any ideas?
