Suggest Treatment For High Fever

my grand daughter is 3 years of age and I took her to the emergency room early this morning and they did a urine sample on her because she was having a high fever. they told us she was fine and sent us home with ibuprofen and tylenol she has had a fever of 102.00 all day and the meds are not working they told us likely she has a viral infection. getting worried her fever won t go down.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Does she have any other symptoms apart from fever? If she is otherwise active and no other symptoms, we need not worry- this is probably a viral fever and it will take 3-4 days for fever to disappear.

Just give tylenol every 6 hours. Give ibuprofen if fever does not come down in 1 hour of tylenol. Take her back to pediatrician if fever persists beyond 3-4 days, she develops fresh symptoms or becomes lethargic and not feeding.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK
