Skin Rash, Sore Neck And Upper Body, Difficulty In Breathing. Taking Predisone. Anything To Worry?
My daughter has had a rash since last sunday that started on her joints...elbows, knees, hands etc also had sore & swollen hands & feet. She has been on prednisone since Monday, we ha done benadryl, calriton, her neck & upper body is sore & it hurts to breathe. The doctor said it was allergies, but I am concerned at this point there may be something else wrong.
Hi, Thanks for the query to H.C.M.Forum. I am sorry to say that prednisolone is only an emergency medicines, why uses in simple rash type of conditions. I am agree with your doctor that your daughter has allergy , but why corticosteroids , it is beyond to understand. few good qualities antihistamines are available in market. It seems your daughter has develops "URTICARIA", in which there are rash all over body, more on joints, because due to nature of skin. Reasons are many. So please get in blood examination for eiosinophils count , stool for worm infestation, Urine for pus cells. Consult a physician and get treatment . Good luck for little one. Dr. HET

Hi, Thanks for writing to health care magic. Your daughter seems to have urticaria. This is a form of skin allergy. Does she have abnormal sound while breathing or is there any difficulty in breathing? If she continues to have respiratory problem you should consult your doctor for further help. Continue to ask further queries. Hope this helps. Take care.
