I recently joined the gym again and have been going for a month or 2. I stretch my shin and legs before I go for a walk/run. On this particular day I went on the treadmill for only 15 mins. I did 5 min walk, 5 min run, 5 min walk. I had no pain whatsoever. I decided to hold onto the treadmill and do a squat to stretch my legs. As soon as I did I felt a sharp pain shoot up in my left leg. I got up and limped to the wall where I stretched my shin. I decided to squat again to see if it s ok and the sharp burning pain came again. This time I put my hand over it and felt a quarter sized lump. I kept my hand on it as I stood up and the lump went down as i was fully standing, but slightly still there. I sat down and massaged it. The pain I originally felt was gone, but there was still some discomfort. After 10 minutes the bump was totally gone and so was any pain. I stopped running and started using elipticals now. For a week I felt no pain whatsoever. Last night I went to the gym again, went on eliptical, did some heavy lifting, and went home and sat on a computer for 4-5 hours afterwards to get some work done. Out of no where I felt a slight discomfort in that area again, but no bump. The slight pain just comes and goes every now and then. Is this something I should worry about and go see a doctor for? After doing some research I m thinking either stress fracture or exertional compartment syndrome?
