Slipped And Fractured Back. Taking Calcium, Vit D3 And Multivitamins. Precaution To Be Taken During Work?
sir, i am practising dental surgeon, i slipped in the bathroom abt 2 wks back and xray and ct scan showed compressed d12 fracture ant compartment, i am 40 yrs old. i have been advised bed rest for one month,calcium suppliments,vit d3, multivitamin , analgesics were given.no neuro symptoms. i have to join back to work after 2 wks.kindly advise the precautions to be taken during work and travelling. i cannot delay my joining work as there is no one else to cover. pls advise. with gratitude and thanks. dr.sabiha
Hi Dr.Sabiha, thanks for writing. An anterior wedge compression of D12 without any neurological deficit is considered as a stable injury and there is nothing to worry about. As you have been prescribed the right medications, please continue them as advised. The only precaution is to avoid bending movements for atleast 3-4 months and lifting up heavy weights from the floor. During travelling, it is advisable to wear a brace for dorsal spine support.
