Small Bruise On Forearm. Has A Lump. Developed After A Cat Scratch. Solution?
So, I have a small nickel sized, barely visible, bruise on my left forearm . It has a hard lump in the center about the size of a dime. It s not raised, but it hurts like a bruise does. Also, and I don t know if this matters, but I got a small cat scratch right next to it. It developed last night, a few hours after the scratch. Any ideas what it may be?
Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for writing to us.
After going through the entire description, I am of the opinion that the cause for lump is cat scratch disease.
Most cases of cat scratch disease resolve without any treatment. Rarely, a swollen lymph node becomes so large and painful that the doctor may recommend removing fluid from the node with a needle and syringe.
Antibiotics sometimes are used to treat the disease. To ease sore nodes, try warm, moist compresses.
I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query.
