Small Child, Blocked Nose, Chest Congestion, Fever. Taken Mefkind Syrup, Livolin Cough Syrup. Cure?
HI Doctor , My 14 months old child is having stuff nose , congestion in chest and fever 102 . Local doctor has advised , livolin cough syrup , along with cozy cold and antibiotic powder ( amoxicylin and pottasium clauvinate ) , After on dose fever did not drop so he gave mefkind ( mefenamic acid ) . Still the fever has not dropped . Kindly recommend

as for as medicne concern this seem to be right
most of the cases are viral etiology . this take 5- day course of illnes
some time fever take 5-6 day to settle
one thing what we can do regarding fever is you may shift from mefenamic acid to paracetomol that is safest antipyretic .
if fever did not subside do cold sponging of body .

Thanks for your query.
Your child is having respiratory infection which can be viral of bacterial in nature.
Give acetaminophen for fever every 6 hours till fever is above 100F,continue with medication as advised.
It takes 24 to 48 hours for symptoms to decrease after medicine.
Give plenty of fluids,lukewarm water will be soothing.
In case symptoms persist get him evaluated by pediatrician.
