Small Child, Constipation, Hard Stools. Taking Augmentin For Viral Infection. Cure For Constipation?
My baby is having constipation she is 7 months old now. At first when we intorduced solid food she was ok, bowel movement was OK as well. She had viral infection in which the doctor prescribed her augmentin for 7 days... after 1 week she started to have constipation and hard bowel movement. I want to check what is causing the constipation knowing that when we firstly intorduced solid food she had no bowel movement problems?

Constipation in your child may be due to less fiber diet.
Try to give mashed vegetables, mashed fruits to increase dietary fiber in the diet.
Give water along with solid diet and often.
Continue breastfeeding.
If the stool is still hard you can give sugar water of lactulose syrup in prescribed dosage.

this constipation could be related to diet........
add more fibre food to the diet
like fresh vegetables, green leafy vegetables, fruits, whole wheat etc...............
reduce on processed food
give him sufficient water to drink
if there is no improvement may be lactulose may be added temporarily after getting him examined by a pediatrician
