Hi,

Thank you for your query.

You have not mentioned the age of your niece to give you a definite advice. It is formula/top feed which cause more constipation then breast feeding. If your niece is more than 6-9 months old then you need to increase food in her diet which has more roughage. You may like to visit the article on constipation at http://vardaan.net/hl-chfd.php and follow the instructions. If diet does not relieve the constipation then suppository may have to be used to help evacuate the hard stools.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your niece an early recovery.

Regards,

RKK

Hi
Thanks for your query,
You have not mentioned age of baby.if it is below 6 months give exclusive breastfeeding..give plenty of fluids to mother, good nutritious diet so that milk production is good, you can add glucose in mothers milk and give it 3 to 4 times a day, neopeptine drops can be added after consultation with doctor.

If age is more than 6 months give her plenty of fluids, glucose water, vegetable soup,

Wishing your niece good health.
God bless.

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
You did not mention the age of your niece?
As in early infancy kid will pass stool once in 2 to 3 days and it is not considered constipation.
Constipation will be aggravated if it is present by artificial and other feeds.
Exclusive breast feeding till the age of 6 months will help the child to pass soft paste like stools and infants on breastfeeding don't have constipation.
Ask her mother to take balanced diet and an extra 500 kilo-calories diet for the proper production of milk.
Hope I have answered your query, if you have any doubts please let me know.
