Small Child, Difficulty Breathing While Being Breast Fed, Foul Smelling Stools. Cefixime, Anticolic Safe To Give?

Hi, my baby is 2 month 5,day old. He got cough, difficulty in breathing during breast feeding, refuse to feeding, & may abdominal pain for last 5 days. His stool is foul smelling , sour test, & sticky. He did not pass stool everyday. My doctor give him cefixime & anticolic. Is it ok for him. Can i start azithromicine for cough?

Hi,
Thank you for your query,
You continue the medication as per your doctor advise.
Don't give azithromycin to your 2 months old baby without a doctor prescription and its safety is not established in infants below the age of 6 months.
Some times difficulty in breathing during breastfeeding is due to nose block which can be relieved by putting one or two drops of saline nasal drops into each nostril and clearing them before feeding.
For pain abdomen you can give colic aid drops as prescribed.
