Small Child, Fever, Moodiness, Leg Pain, Rubbing Eyes Often. Treatment For Symptoms?
Hello, my two year old has been extremely grumpy the last week, she has been running a fever off and on the last five days. No symptoms but and whines a lot and complains occasionally of pain in her legs, rubs her eyes often. I brought her into the doctor two days ago, he checked her over and was not too worried, said to wait it out. She wakes every night screaming at four o clock and is so miserable, I do not like waiting it out !!
Your child is presenting with signs of infection most probably of viral origin. Rubbing eyes means they are probably itchy and might an indication of irritation of the eyes with possible generalized viremia (systemic viral infection). Normally since the main suspected pathogenic agent is a virus, your child's illness should just be managed symptomatically until the infection subsides on its own. Treatment depends on the severity of the symptoms and probably reason why your doctor chose not to treat. If within a couple of days, she is not getting any better, I suggest you go back and see your doctor so he can reevaluate and probably run some lab tests.
Just exercise some patience.
Hi I have gone through your complaints. It's nice that you care for your child so much. Generally growth harmone release occurs maximum in the early mornings. So this will cause the expansion of bone marrow. As your doctor said there is no need to worry. Your child needs human touch, love and care. Dont allow your child to sleep during day time so that she can have sound sleep during night time. Don't worry about rubbing of eyes until it is associated with discharge.
