Small Child, Had A Fall, Facial Injury, Cut On Lip, High Fever, Watery Red Eyes. Treatment?

Hi, my daughter has a very high temp, has had it for 2 days... Very hot to the touch, only calms down while the paracetamol and ibuprofen is in effect. No other symptoms except, realy red runny eyes and smelly farts. She is 17 months. She had a fall 1 day before the fever started, she banged her face on the table and cut her lip, plenty of blood .

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query.

I can understand your concern. However the fever has nothing to do with the cut in her lip.

You are doing the right thing by giving your daughter paracetamol. Continue giving it and do tepid sponging of the whole body if the temperature is very high. In case the temperature does not come down in the next 24 hours then it is advisable to consult your doctor.

I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.

Wishing your daughter an early recovery.

Regards,

RKK

Pediatrician Dr. Synthyia Bhagat's  Response
Hi
Thanks for your query.
Your child is having fever with runny nose which could be viral in nature and is not related to injury.
Continue giving paracetamol till fever is above 100F,do tepid sponging.
Give her plenty of fluids, fruit juices.vegetable soup and soft bland diet so as to maintain hydration and nutrition.
In case fever persist get her evaluated by pediatrician.

Wishing your child good health.
God bless.
