Hi,I am Dr. Santosh Kondekar (Pediatrician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Small Child, High Fever At Night, Rashes On Skin, Red Visible Veins, Headaches. Causes And Cure?
There is a fourteen year old boy from churc who is running a nightly temp up to 104.6. He develops a rash ...his veins are red and visible. This has been going on for 12 nights. During the day he is fine. He has seen doctor 3 times...during the day, and they say he is ok. Parents are very worried. He has headaches during the fevers as well. Starts about the same time every evening.
I suggest that you request the child's parents to maintain a temperature record of the child and get the following investigations done:
1. Hemogram
2. C Reactive Protein
3. Malarial Parasite
4. Widal Test
5. Blood culture
6. Urine routine examination
and get him reviewed by the doctor. In the meantime he can be given tab. acetaminophen/paracetamol 3/4 tab. 4 hourly if the temperature is above 100F orally. I cannot comment on the rash without having a look at them.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
Wishing the child an early recovery.

Rajiv K Khandelwal
