Small Child, Jaundice Infection. Sun Exposure, Skin Darkening, Turning Wheatish. Cure?
my daughter is now 4months old.when she was born she was fair but after 2-3days she had jaundice then shd put her in sunlight for fewdays then her colour became dark but gradually her colour changes to wheatish but her hands her still very fair .we both parents are very fair my son is too very fair.will she change her colour and become very fair like us?
Considering that both parents are very fair, it is quite likely that your baby too will grow up to be fair. Since your baby had jaundice, the colour of the skin might have appeared dark to you initially but physioloigical or "normal" jaundice resolves by 2 weeks.
If you feel the baby still appears dark or yellow, you can get her bilirubin levels rechecked. The eyes can be examined for any yellowish discolouration if the skin appears dark or jaundiced. The urine and stool colour can provide clues to further diagnosis. Skin tan due to sunlight does not take long to get resolved.
Just for your knowledge, the colour or complexion of a baby can not be correctly assessed till infancy due to the nature of the skin and blood circulation. The skin colour can be roughly estimated by matching the colour of her ear cartilage.
There is evidence to suggest that the colour of the outer ear is the actual colour of the baby's face.
