Small Child, Mouth Pain, Might Be An Abscess. Taking Calpol, Ibuprofen, No Relief. Cure?
Hi my son is 5 years old and had been given Amoxicillin due to pain in his mouth, our dentist could not find the route of the problem due to the inconsistency, we now are assuming it s an abscess as he has had them before. We have been giving him calpol and ibuprofen and last night ad tonight he s been screaming in pain. Is there anything else we should do, please help?
As you have not described the exact location of the pain it is difficult to hazard a guess. You can give your son calpol four hourly to reduce pain. It shall be better to get a thorough examination of the mouth done to know the exact cause of the pain which can be either in the teeth, gums, tongue or even the pharynx. Applying ice pack at the pain site will also provide some relief.
I hope I have answered your query to your satisfaction.
