Small Child, Persistent Cough. Taking Bricacef, Taken Excessive Dosage, Nausea. Suggestions?

Hello Doctor My son is 8months old, yesterday I took him to doctor for prolonged cough . He prescribed Bricacef morning 2.5ml n night 5ml. I started his dose from last night. By mistake this morning also I gave 5 ml instead of 2.5ml. From consuming he is groaning n feeling pukish. Will there be any problem.will this have. any problem. What should I do now. Please help

Hi

Bricacef is Cefpodoxime Proxetil if am correct. If so its an antibiotic.

Usual dosage is 10mg/kg/day given in 2 divided doses. You have to check the strength too. If 50mg per 5 ml, your doctor would have advised around 75 mg for your kid. I guess your kid will be around 7.5 kg in weight.
The dose you have given in such a case is not too high or in toxic range.
So you need not worry. Be careful in future.
