Small Raised Red Bumps Around Ankles, Elbows And Knees. What Are These Symptoms ?
Hi there, My partner returned from a 2 day music festival (sunny weather / camping involved) 2 weeks ago. On her last day and up to now, she has been displaying small raised red bumps - a few around her ankles and knees, a few around her elbows but a small rash/a lot of these bumps on the back of her upper arm (near her armpit). I am worried as to what this could be, as the symptoms started showing pretty quickly. She had recently changed her washing powder, and still continues to use this, but will be changing back to the old one as a test. Thanks, AAAAA.
Dear Penta-A, the rash seems fairly innocuous & does suggest either some form of contact dermatitis as you suggest (possibly to detergent or textiles) or a form of infection eg. scabies. I suggest meeting a local dermatologist & the problem is mild & easily sorted in either case. Large gatherings such as music festivals where people mingle or come into contact easily with each other are often harbingers of infections such as scabies or other insect borne skin ailments even insect bite reactions. it does require visual confirmation & a topical crotamiton cream followed by a corticosteroid one after 3 days may resolve the rash completely. Do hope this helps. Visit your derma. Cheers!
