Smelly Mucus From Nose, Very Painful With Yellow Discharge. History Of Sinus Infection And Hydrocortisone. Suggestion?

I have smelly mucus from my nose , and if it gathers, it looks yellow. But I have no pain? I ve had a sinus infection years ago, and it was very painful, but no pain now. Is it an infection.......I ve had it for a few months now......I m also hydrocortisone dependant, so don t know whether it s masking something serious??

There are many conditions in which we see foul smelling discharge from the nose like- sinusitis, bacterial infection, deviated nasal septum, polyps in the nose, foreign body impaction in the nose.

As you have stated you are hydrocortisone dependent, so it seems like you are having infection again ( sinusitis).

Usually steroids are known to reduce the functioning of immune system and increases the risk of frequent infection.

I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist and to undergo complete ear, nose and throat examination, to look into the cause for foul smelling discharge through nose .
