Soft And Raised Area Over Sternum, Moves When Pressed. Is It Sternal Lipomas?

A co-worker noticed a soft, raised area over my sternum today. It is soft and does move when pressed. She thought it was the thymus, but another medical person said that it would not be palpable if it was the thymus, because the thymus is behind the sternum. I am 65 y.o. I have read that sternal lipomas occur later in life.
I don't want to panic, but I don't want to ignore it. I also don't want massive co-pays for testing.
