Sore Throat, Swollen Glands, Bloody Phlegm, Tired, Shivers. History Of Cold And Chest Infection. On Cold Tablets. Serious?
Hi,
I am a 30 year old (otherwise healthy and fit) female smoker. I have had a sore throat, slightly swollen glands and brought up some bloody phlegm from my nasal passage into my mouth. I felt tired and shivery yesterday.
I had a similar symptoms about three months ago which resulted in a cold and chest infection. I am never usually unwell, so am worried about getting sick twice in three months. I did recently change jobs and have been working condsiderably longer hours.
I have been taking cold and flu tablets for the last two days, and drinking plenty of fluids, and feel much better today, but the blood in my phlegm has worried me.
Please can you help?

Blood in phlegm is the main cause of concern , so I want to tell you one thing that nothing was abnormal in this situation.
As you said that otherwise you are very healthy, but 2-3 days back you has sore throat with swollen glands. Point is here due to acute TONSILLITIS ( may be pharyngitis) small amount of blood intermingled with mucus( phlegm) due to forcible inhalation or exhalation and this is normal
Now question is this that recur in three months.
Allergic bronchitis may be the cause or due to co incidence second infection happened , so don't worry.
