Soreness At The Site Of Fracture And Tingling Sensation In Muscle. History Of Fracture Fibula. Should I Be Worried?
Hi. I broke my fibula bone at the ankle two weeks ago. It was in place so I didn't need surgery. I wear the boot majority of the day. Have been elevating. Tried to brace a fall Wednesday and landed on the foot hard. Some pain and discomfort. Soreness near the fracture is lessening some, but soreness in muscles above in leg is occurring. Right now I'm feeling tingling, numbness, slight discomfort and pain when trying to rest and elevate. This feeling extends to my arm and fingers on that side as well. I have a doctors appointment for Wednesday. Is this something to be concerned about and should I try to see doctor sooner?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Lohit K's Response
Hi, Thanks for using HCM.
Relax. No need to worry for now. This seems to be due to sudden blunt injury to nerve and this will disappear in time if no damage to the nerve. I advice you to take rest and loosen any thing above ankle. Take multivitamins containing B6 and B12. This will help you along with Ibuprofen 400mg. Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management. Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries. Wish you good health. Take care.
A certain amount of tingling, numbness & slight discomfort are considered as normal which occur during the process of healing of a fracture.
Symptoms in your arm and fingers are no way related to the fracture of fibula and may be due to a problem in your cervical spine. So, consult your treating doctor for further workup and management.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
