Sprained Ankle With A Sound. Swelling With Pain, Numbness And Tingling. Treatment?
I sprained my ankle about a month ago by simply stepping off a treadmill and hitting wrong. My foot rolled inward, I heard something, and immediately, and for about 3 days afterwards a wider than a golf ball size lump was on my outside ankle. However, I could walk around without too much pain. I iced it for a couple days, the swelling went down, but not all the way. Now a month later, the ankle is still slightly swollen and I have constant tingling/numbness in my foot and all the way up my leg.
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM. It looks from the description that you might have injured the "lateral ligaments of the ankle". Ligament injuries are to be treated as early as possible by proper means, otherwise they tend to produce ankle instability and later leading to ankle arthritis. So i advice you to undergo MRI scan to rule out ligamentous injury. Consult an orthopedic surgeon for opinion and treatment. Hope this helps
Hi!. Thanks for your query to HCM. As explained by you there was a sound following the sprain in your ankle you should have had a X ray of the effected ankle. Well its not late see a Orthopaedician and seek his advice. Take care.
