Stopped Using Ketoconazole On The Face. Skin Becoming Reddish, Itchy And Burning. Withdrawal Symptoms?
Hi, I was prescribed some ketoconazole and told to use it on my face. I used it nearly daily for over a year until another doctor said it was harmful. I stopped using it about 4 months ago. Each month my face goes through painful withdrawals. This includes large sections becoming red, itchy and burning. Ultimately it phases out and flakes away. Yet it returns a week or two later. What can I take or do to prevent this from occurring? Is there any topical ointment that I can use to alleviate the pain or reduce the redness? I do not use any soaps or creams on any of my face currently, just regular tap water. Thanks for your time.
Ketoconazol do not cause any withdrawal symptoms. There could be possibility of photo sensitivity or sunburn that is causing redness and itching over face.
Consult with the dermatologist for clinical examination and proper diagnosis. Emolients and sunscreen lotion or cream can be helpful in such cases.
Hope this helps you.
Thank you.
