Sudden Weakness In The Shoulders, Arms, And Legs

Yesterday, when I woke up, I felt a sudden weakness in my arms, shoulders, and legs. I could hardly move them and they felt very numb. This would happen out of nowhere very rarely, and usually as soon as I wake up (around 11 in the morning). I am 16 years old so in fact, I am fairly young. I ve tried searching for some results as to what this could be or mean, but a lot of the other people experiencing nearly the same thing as me are twice my age or even older than that. Do any of you have a clue? I was considering the fact that maybe it was just a fever , but do fevers really come and go within ONE day? After the morning of feeling very weak, I did something I don t think I should have done-- taking a very hot shower. After the hot shower, my vision completely blurred and I fell out of my bathtub, lying on the cold floor for at least 20 minutes. Breathing was very difficult as well as having severe headaches. Anyone have any advice besides going to a doctor soon, because I will? Is this something I should be VERY worried about? It happens super randomly and it doesn t happen very often. (When I say it happens super randomly I mean that it happens without reason. I ll wake up and I ll feel so weak for no reason.) (Apologies if this is in the wrong section. I picked this section, because it s related to muscle problems, my problem being muscle weakness in the arms, legs, and shoulders.)

My husband suffers from very similar symptoms as you are describing. It is a potassium deficiency called hypokalemic periodic paralysis. It generally starts to affect the person around puberty. Look up hkpp on the internet. I hope you are able to find some answers. This condition usually affects the person most in the morning after sleeping. Potassium levels drop and cause slight to severe muscle weakness includung complete paraylsis in some.

Note: For further queries, consult a joint and bone specialist, an Orthopaedic surgeon. Book a Call now.
