Suffer From GERD. On Sucralfate And Pantoprazole. Nausea And Throat Congestion. History Of Gall Bladder Removal. Need A Remedy
I've had GERD for 2 years now and none of the meds have helped...I'm currently on Sucralfate and pantoprazole with no relief. I'm constantly nauseous (even wakes me at night) and have the feeling of liquid/food not moving through my espophagus. I just recently had my gall bladder removed and the symptoms are no better....
Hi,
Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) is the damage of mucus membrane of esophagus due to gastric acid entering into the esophagus. The mucus membrane of esophagus can't withstand the gastric acid and the pain is called as Heart Burn. This can occur due to the relaxation of sphincter,at the lower end of esophagus, which prevents the entry of gastric materials. Sometime at may occur in a condition called HIATUS HERIA.
The treatment is
1) Antacid - Sucralfate
@)proton pump inhibitors - pantoprazole
These two drugs are OK.
You can also add - H2 receptor blockers - like Ranitidine.
During sleep keep your upper body (above the hip) elevated to 45 degree
You have to investigate to rule out the other pathology Hiatus Hernia, Endoscopy, USG, ECG,
X-RAY Chest and Basic blood test.
Your medications are OK and follow the diet strictly advised by the doctor.
A final point to discuss - your symptom were there before surgery or developed after surgery.
If developed after surgery verify your fat metabolism.
best wishes
