Suffer From UTI. Blood Stained Mucus From Vagina. Cause?

I have recently suffered from a UTI which caused me to collapse admittance to hospital etc, the doctors have been unable to find the cause of the collapse, my period started very early on the day of the collapse and never really went away it started on the 6th May then went very light but then started again on the 15th May, I am now still having a blood stained mucus from my vagina I am 45 years old and I am not pregnant, why do you think this is happening I have always had regular periods and do not take any contraceptives.

Hello and welcome to HCM.

Thank you for your query.

Your query is indeed interesting. The collapse in my opinion, could have taken place due to the excessive loss of fluids that takes place in individuals suffering from UTIs. Which is why it is very important to keep yourself hydrated and make up for the lost fluids. But, then again this is the most likely theory due to your diagnosis (UTI), there could be other causes.

Infections are one of the most common causes for a delay or irregularities in periods. This could be why you are still suffering from an irregularity in your period. If you are undergoing treatment for a UTI, then this should normalize (period) once the infection has been successfully treated. But if this persists, I would prefer it if you would undergo a screening for all sexually transmitted diseases, which could also cause such a presentation.

If the screening reports no diseases, then a check on your hormone levels will also provide important clues.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications at: http://doctor.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-shoaib-khan/64581I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
